Rest, Reset, Renew.

I would like to go on record that I do not now, nor have I ever made New Year’s resolutions. If I tried, I would usually give up on week 2 of January due to lack of motivation. Well, back in December I read somewhere that instead of resolutions and goals for yourself in the new year, you look back on the closing year and write down and reflect on everything you have been through and how God has helped you through. Nothing is too big or too small. Let me tell you, it made a substantial difference in perspective. I was no longer anxious about what I was going to do to get ahead, I was looking back at how much God has helped me grow in the past. As Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

—Isaiah 40:28-31 ESV

This year instead of planning so far ahead that you make yourself anxious, take it one day at a time. Dare to dream and dare to seek the Lord of Hosts who holds our tomorrow in his hands. Have a blessed evening everyone!
