I love it when blogs step on my own toes. It means a great lesson is coming down the line. So, I woke up this morning with a phrase in my head that I’m going to share with you.

“Don’t act like a Christian, act like Christ.”

It’s me, so you know I’m going to dissect that one. I looked it up, the first use of the name “Christian” was used in Acts 11:26 to describe followers of Christ after his crucifixion and resurrection. So, in other words, people of a like mind that follow Christ. But when we say we are a Christian are we following Christ or other Christians? Christians are people. People are flawed and will stumble and fall. People make mistakes and need forgiveness as much as we do. If you say you are a Christian and you only follow and emulate other Christians, it is the same as going to the hospital and finding that there are no doctors, and you are being taken care of by another patient. We are all in need of the one who saved us, the one who set us free. We need to mirror Christ.

“Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

—Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV

Every person is broken in their own way and requires their own methods of healing. The only one who can truly heal what is broken in each of us is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You are meant to be his hands and feet in this world. You are unique and made for a unique purpose all your own. Reflect the one who created you.
